70. Enter The Wound
To deepen our understanding of the Spirit, to deepen our understanding of ourselves, we must enter into the places we most resist. Places within and without. Places of doubt. Places of pain. Places of unknowing.
You are afraid that there is not enough of you to survive all the world contains. You are afraid of the sense of meaninglessness that comes over you at times. You are afraid, when you see evil running rampant, that there is nothing to be done. I see all of this. None of it frightens Me. None of it has ever given Me cause to give up, not on the world, and not on you.
Contrary to what we may have been led to believe, a life of the Spirit is not a life in which we are spared much pain. The things within us we are most terrified to face, the things outside of ourselves that we fear we cannot endure, these are the places the Spirit invites us into. The Spirit invites us into the wounds of the world that we may learn from them, and be transformed.
You must come to know these dark places. You must come to know that you can be surrounded by darkness yet not be consumed. It is because I do not want you to be afraid that I invite you to enter into these fearsome places. I do this so that your experience of them will dull the sharp edges of your fear. I do this so that your fear may no longer be used against you like a weapon.
It is only by passing through the dark places of our world, of our own psyches, that we truly come to know that there is nowhere the Spirit has not gone, that there is nowhere the Spirit is not.
I know it is hard. I know this is not what you wanted. Still, if you will travel into the heart of things, into and through the dark places, you may turn around to find that these wounds join together to form a path that connects Us all.
It is by walking through the wounds of the world that we are made more into the likeness of the Spirit, our Wound Walker.
